SUSPECTED ORDNANCE FOUND AT RYDE BEACH


HM Coastguard has been called to investigate the discovery of a piece of suspected ordnance in Ryde – the third such find this week.

Investigations are being carried out to locate the object, which was originally found by Police on Saturday afternoon.

Coastguard Rescue Officers from Bembridge are conducting a sweep along the beach to the west of Ryde Pier.

The Coastguard team were called to the same area on 6th February.

Earlier this week the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team were mobilised to Bembridge and Shanklin following similar finds. At Bembridge, the object was confirmed to be a solid shot projectile.
