Last term, Newchurch Primary School took part in the very first virtual London Mini Marathon, following the cancellation of the event on the 4th of October.

A teacher at the primary school, Mr. Tuck, along with several parents from the school were set to run the London Marathon, so it is an event that is well supported by the school community.

Each class was set the challenge of completing 2.6 miles within a week. Some of the older children ran it during Cross Country Club, whilst others ticked off the miles whilst taking on a cross-curricular walk. The younger children tallied up the miles over the week running laps of the school field. All classes from Reception to Year 6 completed the 2.6-mile challenge.

The challenge was also used as a school fundraiser due to missing out on many other fundraising events such as the Newchurch Nine, the Federation Sponsored Walk, and the Summer Fayre.

This week they took delivery of some fantastic London Mini Marathon medals. These are a real keepsake, as it is an event that is usually very difficult to get an entry in to.
