Alexander Lock, of Adelaide Grove, attended Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court earlier this month, charged with intentional strangulation.
It is alleged that the 33-year-old attempted to strangle a woman on Saturday, July 1.
Lock was remanded into custody and will attend the Isle of Wight Crown Court on July 31 for a plea and trial preparation hearing.
