Homes in the Newchurch, Winford, Apse Heath and Arreton homes will be without water overnight as part of ongoing repairs to a burst water main.

It was dinnertime on Friday that hundreds of homes lost water supply as a result of a burst main. It took Southern Water several hours to locate where the pipe had burst and to then restore supply to those affected.

Southern Water are now advising that engineers will be conducting additional work on the main with a requirement to shut off water in part of the network, resulting in a loss of supply to properties once again.

However, to minimise disruption, the water won’t be turned off until midnight and supplies should have returned to normal by the morning.

The main road through Newchurch remains closed at Langbridge to enable repair works to be carried out. Access to the local school tomorrow morning is via the south end (Apse Heath).
