Coastguards lifeboat and helicopter in Isle of Wight coast winch

A walker has been winched into the coastguard helicopter after a cliff fall, in a multi-agency operation on the Isle of Wight’s coast this afternoon (Sunday).

HM Coastguard received a call around 2.10pm, after a person slipped down the cliff at Luccombe, near Shanklin.

The Bembridge, Needles and Ventnor coastguard rescue teams were sent, along with the coastguard helicopter from Lee on Solent.

Hampshire Constabulary and the Isle of Wight Ambulance service were also involved, along with Sandown and Shanklin Inshore Lifeboat.
